Getting on Top of Google with the OneBox

5 01 2007

The OneBox is Google’s term for the search results that show up above the organic search listings and below the “blue box” Adwords listings.

Google shows an example in their help file of the OneBox (H) being used to drive news results:

Now, seeing News results at the top of a search may not be too sexy to an ecommerce store owner, but it’s a peek at what you can get with a good Froogle listing.

Imagine instead that the OneBox is populated with your products and that the searcher is looking for your product (and, since they’re looking for the product in a search engine, they are ready to buy).  Is that a bit more enticing?

Thought so.

So, how do you do it?  Head over to Google Base and view their tutorial.  I’ll also be putting up a video tutorial very soon detailing the step by step a bit more.
